Basic salary is not enough to buy a package of diapers

14.04.2018

The current economic crisis that the mothers of newborn children go through increases every time, since the salary they earn in their jobs is not enough to buy diapers for their babies.

For its part, the manager of a pharmacy said that the price of diapers is high because they are imported, because in the country there is no national production of this product.

He adds that the economic situation in Venezuela is difficult but that they continue to sell the product, since the number of pregnant women is increasing due to the lack of contraceptives and condoms.

An affected mother named Marianny Martinez indicated that she buys up to three packages of diapers each month, with the help of relatives who are abroad because she does not even have enough money to buy one.

She also comments that she usually puts organic diapers on her baby while they are at home, so they can dispose of disposable diapers and use them only when they have to go outside.

These women are affected by having to allocate up to two full salaries to buy a basic product such as diapers that their children need and that only last around 10 days.
