35 undernourished children entered the hospital of Valera this quarter
Doctors assured that the majority of children are less than 5 years old
35 seriously undernourished children have entered the "Pedro Emilio Carrillo" University Central Hospital in the first quarter of the year, located in the municipality of Valera, Trujillo state.
In the registry they count 12 in January, 13 in February and 10 in March, only in the category of "serious" where most remain in hospitalization, while those qualified under the diagnosis of "moderate" receive advice and medical attention to compensate them and they go back to their homes.

The official information is reported by the Pediatric Service, which ensures, from a group of doctors, that the majority of children are under 5 years of age and their mothers claim to have a low income that does not allow them to "feed well" to his children.
Three years without receiving milk
They also state that for the past three years they have not received help to have formula or complete milk at the hospital, which is one of the main deficiencies when assessing the children who enter.
They add that protein deficiency is another cause. The lack of meat, eggs, chicken, among other foods that provide the caloric protein, is scarce or null in the diet that minors receive.
However, in the Nutrition Service are happy to comment that organizations and individuals come weekly to the hospital to make donations of food, including: flours, bags of vegetables, ribs for soups and other items that helps them prepare food for all children of the Pediatric Unit.
Although they comment that they are small amounts, this compensates a little the situation and helps them to watch over the health of the little ones who stay in evaluation until they are hydrated, overcome the pathologies secondary to malnutrition and get them to return to their homes.
